Rakeem Brookins commits to Siena

A source close to Brookins confirmed what we knew a few days ago that Brookins has agreed to play for Siena University next season. Brookins met with the Siena staff and feels its a good fit for him. We wish Brookins all the best and know he will have alot of success being the newest Saint of Siena.

Runhouse suffers 1st loss in PI League

The Runhouse team suffered its first loss of the season this year to Subee in the Philadelphia Positive Image League. The final score was 84 - 69. Runhouse goes to 2-1.  The team was shorthanded without lead guards Jay Harris and Bryton Hawthorne and it showed late in the game.  Runhouse went up by 4 early in the second half but failed to maintain the lead. Leading the way for Runhouse was 6′ 4″ senior sharpshooter Maurice Griffin (22 pts, 3 threes). Ryan Hanley (6′ 5″ senior swingman)  chipped in 16 pts and Isiaah Clarke (6′ 0″ senior combo) added 14.  

Runhouse goes to 2-0 with win in PI League

The Runhouse squad remains undefeated in the Positive Image League in Philadelphia with a 73-67 win over Mallery. Ryan Hanley, 6′ 5″ swingman, continues to impress with his all around play. He was once again the leading scorer with 14 points.

Good balance was again achieved by the Runhouse team with Isiaah Clark (14 pts), Jay Harris (12 pts) and Harold Gordan (11 pts) also scoring in double figures. Gordan also had 3 blocks and played strong throughout. Bryton Hawthorne (6′ 2″ pg) provided a spark off the bench as well with great leadership and steady play.

Our next game will be on Wednesday (4/28) at 7pm at the Finley Rec Center.

Pendarvis Williams commits to Norfolk State

Philadelphia’s Pendarvis Williams has commited to Norfolk State. The 6′ 5″ shooting guard will become a member of the Norfolk State team in September. The Norfolk State coaches saw Williams work out with the Impact Sports Academy and were immediately impressed with his potential. This is the second player that Norfolk State has signed through the Impact Sports Academy in Philadelphia. The other being Kashaune McKinney. McKinney also is signed for next year.

Runhouse soars in PI league debut

The Runhouse team took an early lead against Youth Interlock and never looked back in a 89 - 69 win in the very tough Positive Image League. Leading the way for Runhouse was 6′ 5″ swingman Ryan Hanley. Hanley posted 22 points and 11 rebounds. Hanley showed an ability to not only score inside but also to knock down long range shots (2 threes).

 Also contributing to the winning effort were PG Jay Harris (15 pts), CG Isiaah Clark (15 pts), WG Maurice Griffin (12 pts) and PG Bryton Hawthorne (10 pts). Runhouse goes to 1-0 with the next game scheduled for Wednesday April 20th.

Rakeem Brookins requests release

April 14th, 2010, Philadelphia, PA

At 3pm on April 13th, 2010, Rakeem Brookins requested his release from his letter of intent to play for Tulane University next season. The high scoring guard has since received alot of interest from other schools but is still keeping the option open to attend Tulane University.

Brookins average 18.9 ppg as a senior at Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia and was a 1st team All City selection.

UPDATE: April 16th, 2010
Brookins has received his release and is now being recruitied by Northeastern, JMU, Drexel, Delaware, LaSalle, George Washington, Siena, Niagra, Marshall, Hartford, Boston University, Oral Roberts and Tulane.
